You could not ask for a nicer, prettier day for our annual Wine and Cheese party. Bright sunshine and cool afternoon temperature, and you could see it all from the eleventh floor of Vista Towers at Shangri-La. A nice crowd of 64 sailors, family and friends came for the festivities and with the new venue we had a new caterer. Caroline Piquet, a FFA teacher at Vinita, and some of her class served up a wonderful meal of beef, chicken and vegetables followed by some of the best chocolate cake and bread pudding ever! In the hour before the meal, she set out a brilliant selection of cheeses, crackers, vegetables with dip and nice big succulent shrimp and sauce. Everyone brought their favorite wine with which to compliment the fare.
The club wants to thank Patsy Hagen for her hard work and meticulous planning of the party. Also, a big thanks to Stan and Mary Frear for generously sharing their access to the facilities at Vista Towers. If you didn’t come, you missed a great time!
