Three Cannons Construction began demolition of the clubhouse on Monday, April 19. In one day they managed to level the building but efforts will continue for the next few days to complete the demo of the decking and foundation. In the process of removing the old roof, it was discovered that it had been shingled five times prior to installation of the most recent metal roof.
The old layers were not removed when new shingles were added which resulted in a very heavy roof, plus mold and rot were extensive in many areas of the roof trusses. The builders said they were surprised that the roof had not caved in from the
added weight and severe deterioration of the structure.
It was a fine clubhouse in its day, but the demolition revealed the extent of the deterioration and the run-down condition of the building. A new clubhouse will be a huge benefit, providing members a safe, clean and comfortable place to congregate, socialize and spend time in while enjoying the splendid view of the lake and the marina.
